BN Academy product settles in at Football CV Academy

In what can be deemed as a huge step in the right direction in his endeavours of making a mark on the football landscape Matthew Nzewi is among several of BN Academy products to pursue football abroad after joining Football CV Academy in the United Kingdom at the begining of this year.

Covid-19 restrictions somewhat delayed Nzewi's quest to go out onto the football field but the 19 year old is elated to be finally out training, "Well there has been a lockdown, so we only started training seriously a bit recently. It has been something different, very intense and mentally challenging but overally I have enjoyed it" said Nzewi.

Nzewi admits being in the process of adjusting to the UK environment given the climatic conditions are somewhat different from thos back home, "I am trying to aclimatize because it is really cold here but I am slowly getting to used to it here. In as far as the football the coaches always give advice and they are very encouraging and patient".

When asked about his vision Nzewi is modest about his aspirations, preferring to focus on his immediate game, "For now I don't really look too far into the future, I just want to improve myself to a certain point then I will start thinking about going professional". Inspired by the likes of Gary Bale, Frank Lampard, Cristiano Ronaldo and Paul Pogba the Christian Brothers Colloege old boy is also an admirer of former Warriors right back Noel Kaseke.

In closing off the interview Nzewi points to the important role played by BN Academy in handing him exposure, "Joining BN Academy was important as it woke me up. I got to see football outside Zimbabwe and what it takes to be professional and just to see the difference of football", said Nzewi.
